A Matter of Perspective: Immersed Realities
This project explores attachment and empathy through one person’s lived experience, translating a single personal narrative into an immersive VR experience rather than generalising about any attachment style. It deliberately introduces moments of emotional dissonance — gaps between what participants expect, perceive and instinctively feel — to challenge assumptions about behaviours that can be hard to understand. Tia asks whether VR can move empathy beyond knowing about someone’s experience, toward genuinely taking their perspective.
Profile
Tia is a VR Designer & Strategy Lead at Sacks of Spice. With a Master’s in Cultural and Creative Industries from the University of Sussex, she specialises in the digitisation of experience, with a core focus on scaling empathy through design. Her journey began in independent publishing — exploring how to cultivate human connection through cultures, creative practices and stories — and today she has pivoted that expertise toward immersive experiences, exploring how VR can transcend physical limitations to create deeper, more empathetic engagement.
