Designing Endings: Rethinking How We Leave the Field
Fieldwork does not simply end; it shifts, lingers, and continues in different forms. Through concrete scenarios, this workshop explores what it means to exit fieldwork, introducing a relational perspective on endings — one where care, accountability and co-creation extend well beyond the formal duration of a project.
Profile
Miikka J. Lehtonen (PhD) is a multidisciplinary academic, co-founder of the award-winning Nordic Rebels movement, and Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo’s College of Design Planning and Coordination Office, helping build a new interdisciplinary design program from the ground up; his work spans visual and multimodal knowledge production, design-driven pedagogy and diversity practices. Tomohiro Loeer is a design educator and strategist on the same College of Design team and a Designer & Researcher at the UTokyo DLX Design Lab, working across community design, service design and design research to bridge academia with real-world impact.
