Creating Your Own World
A short look at how Luis created his membership program, Mundo Mendo. After 20 years as an editorial designer and art director in Amsterdam, he moved to Japan and took drawing seriously. Having always worked where image and text meet, he built a world of his own — literally, “Mendo’s World” — where he writes, draws and designs it all: a website of stories collected once a year into a physical book, now on its second volume.

Luis Mendo is a Spanish-born illustrator and former art director based near Tokyo. After roughly 20 years in Europe as an editorial designer and creative director in Spain and the Netherlands, he shifted from magazine and identity design to illustration after relocating to Japan.
